My favorite vacation was when the whole family went to Kentucky to see Mammoth Cave. Those few days were so much fun to see the family enjoying themselves together. We weren't gone long and we didn't stuff our days with things. It was also the first vacation we took as a family. The second vacation we took as a family was to Germany. We stayed with Heinrich's aunts in their old farmhouse. The kids were fascinated to live in a house that had a barn attached and cows being milked right there just a short walk from the kitchen. We got to help with the haying and other farm chores. We took several day trips to see the local attractions. The favorite for the children was Herman the German. It was a huge bronze statue of the man who defeated the Romans. Herman stands on a hill holding his sword over his head. The children all received a miniature of this most impressive statue but unfortunately most of the swords were broken off before we returned home, the result of demonstrations of their fencing prowess. Third favorite was a short trip to Rome. Heinrich and I went for only a few days but it was wonderful and I would love to go back. We toured Rome and had the opportunity to go to Pompeii.
As to the places that I have visited........Canada, Germany, England, Austria, Italy, Sweden, Denmark, and Belguim. Most of the continental United States. I haven't been to Washington, Colorado, Arkansas, Alaska and Hawaii.
Places I would like to visit.....Australia and Israel. And my children and grandchildren.
